Ex-BPAT member killed by former colleague in North Cotabato
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Old grudge triggered Monday thekilling of a former member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action TEam (BPAT) by a BPAT on duty in Barangay Sibsib, Tulunan, North Cotabato Sunday, a belated police reported showed.Senior Inspector Rolando Dillera, Tulunan PNP chief, identified the victim asToto Amancio while the suspect Rodolfo Gikain.Dillera said Amancio and accosted a man who was passing by near thevillage watchers base. This prompted Gikain who was on duty to ask Amancio why he flagged down the man.An argument ensued with Amancio shooting Gikain in his leg. As he fell, Gikain pulled his cal. 45 pistol and shot Amancio in his stomach.Amancio died minutes later.Dillera said the suspect and the victim have been locked in personal grudge which police believed was ignited by the incident where Amancio accosting a man when he was no longer a BPAT member.Gikain is now detained and murder charges have been filed against him.
