Ex-village exec slain in Cotabato town
KIDAPAWAN CITY -An unidentified gunman shot dead a former village chair in Kabacan town in North Cotabato, just hours after a court hearing on his son-in-law’s murder case, Monday. Chief Inspector Ronnie Cordero, chief of Kabacan Police, identified the victim as Remegio Alejo, former chair of Barangay Pisan. Alejo was having dinner with his family when the suspect, armed with a caliber 45 pistol, barged into his house and shot him on his stomach and chest, around 645 p.m. Alejo died hours after he was rushed to the Kabacan Medical Specialist Hospital in Poblacion, Kabacan. Cordero hinted the killing could be related to the murder last April of three members of a family in Barangay Aringay. One of the victims was Alejo’s son-in-law. The killing took place just hours after the hearing on murder case held at a local court in Kabacan. A deepLY-seated family conflict could be one of the motives, according to police. Cordero dismissed politics as behind the murder since the victim is no longer active in public service.
