Family of rape-slay victim cries for justice, seeks Duterte’s help

Maguindanao –- The family of a 7-year-old girl raped and killed by her
attacker is crying for justice and sought President Duterte’s help to attain
it.
Death by
hanging for the killer of my daughter, I want him to feel the pain too,” Lorie
Garcia, mother of Grade 2 pupil Anika” (not her real name), said of her daughter’s
attacker.
Chief Insp.
Allan Bulusan, Parang town police chief, said Anika was killed by asphyxia
secondary to strangulation.”
The victim
was sexually molested,” Bulusan said, citing post mortem examination on the
victim’s remains.
Benito, the
victim’s father, said the suspect used his girl’s skirt in ending her life.
The victim was
also dumped by the unidentified suspect in an open septic tank in Barangay
Magsaysay, Parang, Maguindanao after committing the crime on July 2.
The father had
the girl’s skirt placed atop his daughter’s coffin so the suspect will be
bothered by his conscience and surrender.
Benito
recalled that on a gloomy Saturday morning (July 2), his daughter was last seen
heading to a nearby store to buy candy.
She has not returned since then, forcing the family to seek neighbors’
help in locating her.
She was later
found in an abandoned septic tank also in the same village.
The girl’s
skirt was still in her neck and she has no under wear when found and retrieved.
Anika is a
second honor pupil in school.
We have no
known enemies here, we are just poor fishing family,” the mother said.
President
Digong, please help us give justice to our daughter,” she appealed.
Bulusan said a
search warrant is expected to come out any time after we shall have filed the
charges against the suspect.
Benito
admitted that illegal drugs are rampant in Barangay Magsaysay and he suspected
someone under the influence of prohibited drugs was behind the ruthless murder of his daughter.
On Tuesday,
about 100 self-proclaimed drug dependents surrendered” to Parang police
office. All of them were from Barangay
Magsaysay where the ruthless murder was committed.
Following the
heinous crime, girls and women have stayed home for fear they are next victims.
Residents call
