Former cop dies in Maguindanao highway mishap

COTABATO
CITY – A retired police officer was killed while four of his
family members were wounded when the vehicle they were riding figured in a
highway mishap in Datu Abullah Sangki, Maguindanao over the weekend.

Sr.
Insp. Beverlyn Abnico, Datu Abdulla Sangki town police chief, said the victims
were on board a black Toyota Fortuner which tried to overtake two hauler trucks when
the driver lost control of its steering wheel.

The
vehicle turned turtle and ended on a small creek.

Abnico
said the victims were to attend a wedding in Tacurong City when the accident
happened on Saturday morning along Barangay Talisawa.

She identified the slain police officer as Umbra Masukat, 58. Wounded were Masukat’s wife Lukaida, 58
Khadafe Masukat, 24 Basher Masukat, 22 and Yeesha Krisylle Masukat Delanoche,
9, all sustained minor injuries.
