Grenade planted in state college president's home in NorCot

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A civilian found a fragmentation grenade near the door of thehouse of a state college presidentin North Cotabato Wednesday night, police report said.Police said the explosive was found by a certain Sarah May Gonsang at the house of Dr. Samsudin Molao in Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan, North Cotabato.Molao is the president ofCotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology based in Arakan, North Cotabato.The explosive was made placed as a booby trap and will explode when the house main door is opened.Gonsang, Molao's relative,told police the grenade's safety pin was tied with a rope attached to the door knob which will trigger the explosion once the door is opened. Responding members of the ArmyExplosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team successfully recovered the grenade. Molao was not in his home when the grenade was discovered. The Kabacan PNP are conducting investigation to determine the motive and the identity of the suspects. It wasnot the first time that university president had been harassed. He survived an ambush here years ago.Explosives were also recovered inside the CFCST compound in Arakan, near his office.
