Iraqi envoy visits ARMM, gives Qur'an
COTABATO
CITY - Iraqi envoy Ahmed Al Kamaly on Wednesday donated dozens
of Qur’an to education officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao in support of the ARMM government's Islamic education thrusts
in five predominantly Moro southern provinces.Kamaly
handed over the English and Arabic copies of the Qur’an to cleric Alzad
Sattar, ARMM’s deputy Islamic education secretary, during a simple
program at the Office of the Regional Governor in Cotabato City.The
turnover rite was witnessed by key officials of the autonomous region
led by Regional Executive Secretary Laisa Alamia and ARMM Vice Gov.
Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman.Kamaly
had told ARMM officials his visit to the seat of the ARMM government
was to familiarize himself with the intricacies of Muslim autonomy and
the Mindanao peace process, which involves various sectors in the
country’s south.Iraq
is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a bloc of more
than 50 Muslim countries, including petroleum-exporting nations in the
Middle East and North Africa.Some
OIC-member states have actively been helping push forward Malacañang’s
separate peace overtures with the Moro National Liberation Front and the
Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
