KIDAPAWAN CITY
– The local government here is allowing a limited and regulateduse of firecrackers to welcome
Christmas and New Year but on a limited basis.
Last year,
Mayor Joseph Evangelista ordered a total ban on the sale and use of fireworks
and firecrackers and changed heart this year.
Evangelista
said public selling of firecrackers and fireworks is only allowed from December
23 to January 1.
Setting off
firecrakers on or after the above dates will be penalized, Evangelista said.
Selling of
firecrackers is only allowed at the Kidapawan City plaza.
Interviewed by
DXND Radyo Bida Kidapawan, Evangelista said groups or association or families may
apply for permit at the city hall for the conduct of fireworks display.
Once a permit
is issued, the city police, fire officers and Barangay Police Action Team (BPAT)
will be deployed in the vicinity to respond should emergency situation arises.
On December
30, hours before the year ends, the Kidapawan local government will host a
grand fireworks display at the city plaza.
