Kidapawenios await 'fireworks display'
KIDAPAWAN CITY
– The Kidapawan City civil security unit (CSU) seized banned firecrackers
following an intensified campaign against sale and use of prohibited firecrackers,
officials said today.
About P50,000
worth of assorted firecrackers were seized by CSU in the city’s public market.
CSU personnel
Andres Malinao said several business establishments have been placed under
surveillance for selling banned items.
Among the
seized items were powerful ‘OG,’ and ‘triangle’ firecrackers.
Mayor Joseph
Evangelista issued Executive Order No.082 prohibiting the sale and distribution
of firecrackers with more than .02 grams of explosive powder.
Meanwhile,
Kidapawan City residents eagerly await the city sponsored ‘fireworks displace’
this evening.
The fireworks
display will take place at the Kidapawan City plaza where P180,000 worth of
assorted and colourful pyrotechnics are expected to provide lights, color and
sounds to welcome the New Year.
Instead of
setting firecrackers in your homes or on the street, we invite you to witness
the city sponsored fireworks display,” Evangelista said in an interview.
