Kwitis triggered Koronadal fire that destroyed 7 homes

KORONADAL CITY -- Arson investigators here believed a firecracker, most likely kwitis, triggered a fire here that left seven houses razed to the ground during the New Year's revelry.Boy Zabala, owner of a house made of light materials where the fire started, he only managed to save few of his valuables. A blazing kwitis landed in the roof of one of the houses before the fire, Alejo Montes, a resident nearby told reporters in Ilonggo.The fire started when firecrackers were exploding left and right minutes before the New Year.Initial investigation showed the fire destroyed at least P400,000.Fire fighters from Koronadal Bureau of Fire Protection and nearby towns helped put off the blaze.
