Maguindanao’s high risk inmate moved to Camp Bagong Diwa

COTABATO
CITY – Central Mindanao’s most high risk inmatewho repeatedly bolted
jails but recaptured has been transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, Maguindanao
jail officials today said.

Blao, Maguindanao provincial warden, said Datukan Samad, alias Commander
Lastikman” has been moved to Camp Bagong Diwa Wednesday on orders of the court.
Samad
was blamed for the series of bus bombings, highway robbery on passenger vans
and buses plying the Cotabato City-Davao City route, extortion, kidnapping,
murder and multiple murders.
He
was arrested in December 2011 but escaped from the Maguindanao provincial after
six months. But was rearrested in Pikit, North Cotabato and detained at the
Kidapawan City jail where he was facing charges of masterminding bus bombings.
About
50 heavily armed men stormed the Kidapawan City jail in an attempt to rescue
him in February 2012. That attempt left three persons killed and 15 others
wounded.
Among
the dead was a Red Cross volunteer who was rushing wounded victims to the
hospital.
Samad
was transferred to Maguindanao provincial jail where he escaped in late 2012.
But a relentless police manhunt operations led to Samad’s arrest in Pikit,
North Cotabato after his wife provided the information of his whereabouts.
Since
then Samad was detained at Maguindanao provincial jail in Cotabato City but
jail officials considered him a very high risk inmate” who had plotted several
times to escape.
Blao
said Samad’s latest attempt to bolt was in August this year but alert jail
guards busted the plot. A former rebel leader, Samad is said to have plenty of
followers plotting to rescue him.
But
the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) repeatedly disowned him.
Blao
showed to reporters the court’s commitment order on Samad as he gestured a sigh
of relief.
