Maguindanao jail guards foil Commander Lastikman's escape try

COTABATO CITY -Maguinhdanao and North Cotabato's most wanted man tried but failed to escape from his detention cell at theMaguindanao provincial jail at PC Hill, Cotabato City.Armando Baguaman, Maguindanao provincial jail warden, told a local TV channel that the escape plot of Datukan Samad alias'Lastikman' was foiled when jail guards conducted a routine inspection early Friday morning.The cell's iron grillwhere Samad was detained along with 28 others have hack saw marks, an indication there was a plot to bolt jail.A jail officer who asked not to be named said a motorbike was also found suspiciously abandoned few meters away. May be that motor was intended asDatukan's get away vehicle, he said in the vernacular.Jail guards also recovered a plastic heat-sealed sachet with suspected shabu inside Samad's cell.Samad was facing multiple murder and frustrated multiple murder charges, kidnapping and carnapping in North Cotabato and Maguindanao courts.He was arrested but managed to escape years later. His colleague tried to bolt him out of jail in Kidapawan City jail.
