Marawi City PNP silent on reported execution of 4 rape suspects

COTABATO CITY - Police authorities in Marawi City are still verifying the veracity of reports that the four suspects who admitted to have gang raped and killed a 15-year-old girl were executed.Chief Insp. We are still investigating the report, as of now there was no confirmation yet, Khalib told DXMS Radyo Bida. No bodies or remains of the victims have been found. The four were arrested by the victim's neighbors and brought to police station. Few days later, they were released after no witnesses have showed up to testify against the suspects.They were released by the police but the citizens, enraged by the killing of the girl and the alleged rape, re-arrested them and brought to a town in Lanao del Sur where they were allegedly executed.Atty. Alikhan Abuat, chair of the ARMM Regional Human Rights Commission, has appealed to the people of Marawi City to let the law takes its course.Senior Supt. Alex Tagum, regional director for Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Northern Mindanao, that a CIDG investigation report said the alleged rape was yet to be substantiated.He said the girl died because of the burning incident.Tagum also denied reports that the four, while in police custody,admitted they gang raped the girl. It was the reason why they were released by the local police. Like Marawi City PNP chief, Tagum said there was no confirmed report the four were publicly executed.
