Mendoza condemns Allado murder, orders massive manhunt
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Cotabato Governor Lala Mendoza has ordered a massive manhunt on those responsible for the brutal murder in Lanao del Suron Thursday of Banisilan former mayor and mayoralty aspirant. Mendoza, in a statement, has condemned, in strongest terms, the killing of Floro Allado, 55,former municipal mayor of Bansilan who was also seeking for the same post in May elections. Allado was gunned down while refueling at MMJ4 gas station in Barangay Eastern Wao, Lanao del Sur at 12:45 p.m. when a man, wearing bonnet and sweatshirt appeared and opened fire.Although initially hit, Allado ran but the gun chased him and fired more shots, hitting the former mayorin the head and body.Senior Inspector Jojie Barotas, Banisilan police chief, quoted a report from Chief Insp. Barotas saidthat Allado has repeatedly claimed the has death threats but still traveled alone. Police investigators are looking at several angles, including personal grudge and election related.In November 2006, Allado figured in a shooting incident in Poblacion, Banisilan, where five Maguindanaon Moro, all males, were killed, and two others were seriously wounded.He was charged but eventually the cases against him was dismissed.Last year, he survived a grenade attack on his home but two of his cousins died.
