Militia dies in NPA harassment in Tampakan, SoCot

CITY -- Undetermined number of communist guerillas attacked on Saturday noon a militia detachment in a remote village in Tampakan, South Cotabato, police and military authorities said today.Chief Isp. Sherwin Maglana, police chief of Tampakan, told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal said the attacked occurred at about 12:45 p.m. in Barangay Datalbiao that left a militiamen killed.Killed due to multiple gunshot wounds was Mark Lozada, member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) and a resident of Barangay Tablo, Tampakan.Maglana said Lozada and his companions exchange bullets with the attackers until the rebels retreated to the mountainous area of Barangay Datalbiao.Maglana could not say whether the NPAs suffered fatalities.Elements of the 27th Infantry Battalion were already in the area conducting pursuit operations against the attackers.Tampakan is among the villages infiltrated by communist rebels in South Cotabato.
