N. Cotabato village chair tells BIFF leader to reform for good
KIDAPAWAN CITY
– A former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) guerrilla leader has appealed to
his former comrade-leader to reform and live normal lives like he did.
Noah Sabel, former
head of MILF’ 10th base command, said he and Gani Saligan were in
the same armed group in the MILF fighting for self-determination and equality
when he decided to shift and joined the local government.
Sabel is now
the village chairperson of Barangay Dugong, an outlying village of Mlang, North
Cotabato and he has an unsolicited advice to his former comrade.
Saligan heads
a team of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) after they broke from
mainstream MILF in 2008.
Sabel said he
parted ways with Saligan because he was involved in illegal activities.
Brother Gani
was engaged in criminal activities like cattle rustling, robbery and land
grabbing,” Sabelsaid.
In fact in
2011, Sabel groups clashed with Saligan’s group in the marshland of Mlang.
My advice to
brother Gani is to reform, be sorry for his sins while he still can and devote
the remain years of his life into doing good for his people,” Sabel told DXND Radyo
Bida Kidapawain in the vernacular.
