NDRRMCand 1 dead, 2 bridges damaged, 54,115 families affected in Maguindanao flood
COTABATO CITY - A farmer was missing and believed to have died while 54,115 persons have been affected by light to moderate rain last week in Maguindanao, theNational Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Sunday.The flood also damaged two bridges in Buldon, Maguindanao.Farmer Maungko Mastura, 35, was drowned after he crossed the Lumabka river in Barangay Nuyo, Buldon, Maguindanao Thursday, the NDRRMC reported.Unconfirmed reports said three more persons perished during the floods that affect Maguindanao and North Cotabato's low lying communities, especially those near the Liguasan marshland. No data from NDRRMC about other fatalities.A girl died at the height of rising flood in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao but officials said she died of sickness and not of drowning.The NDRRMC said 11 villages in Sultan Kudarat were flooded, five in Sultan Mastura and two in Talayan, all in Maguindanao.Totally damaged were Denganen Bridge and Patot Bridge in Buldon, MaguindanaoARMM, through its emergency relief arm,distributed 1,500 food packs to affected families in Sultan Kudarat while local DSWD in Talayan also extended similar aid to affected families.
