North Cotabato's organic products on display in Germany trade expo

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Two organic products from North Cotabato are again featured in BIOFACH World Organic Trade Expo in Nuermburg, Germany starting Thursday, officials here said.Organic coco sugar, produced by Tree Life Coco Sugar in Carmen town and Bios-Dynamis Black Rice produced by Mlang and Makilala town farmers, all in North Cotabato, are now displayed in the trade expo in Nuremburg, according to North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza.Also featured in the trade expo are products from United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Japan. This only shows that organic farming in the province is thriving and its beneficiaries are not only the people in the locality but globally, Mendoza said in a statement.She said her office continue to support organic farming through the office of the provincial agriculturist like seedlings, farming techniques and training and other assistance to farmers.The Tree Life Coco Sugar is the leading organic products in Carmen owned by Taray family while the black rice are famous products of farmers from Makilala and Mlang towns.The two products have been getting popularity in the local and national market, Mendoza said. I am very proud our products have gone a long way, this is the second time our products found its way abroad, she said.In 2013, Tree Life Coco sugar was awarded Global Brand Award and Global Excellence Award in world organic product expo, also in Germany while the black rice have received various recognition and awards locally and internationally.
