PAG-ASAand LPA approaching Mindanao

MANILA, Oct. 14 (PNA) -- A new weather disturbance has been spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday.PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said that as of 4 a.m. the low pressure area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 1,220 km east of Mindanao (7.5?N, 136.5?E) but is not yet affecting country.Quitlong said the LPA is expected to enter the country within the next 24 hours.He added the LPA is not expected to intensify into tropical cyclone in the next two days but the agency continues to monitor it.Once it develops into a tropical depression inside the PAR it will be locally named Paeng , the 16th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year and the third for this month.For Tuesday forecast, due to strong northeasterly windflow, this will bring light to moderate rainshowers over Mindanao, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and the province of Aurora while Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and the provinces of Ilocos will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.It added the rest of the country including Metro Manila will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.The weather bureau also issued a gale warning as the strong to gale force wind due to northeasterly wind flow is affecting the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon. Fisher folks and those using small sea crafts are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards, PAGASA warned. (PNA)JBP/CLTC
