PDEA operatives arrest Korean-American national in GenSan
KORONADAL CITY -- A Korean-American national was arrested in Gen. Santos City early Thursday morning by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Mindanao, PDEA-12 official said today. PDEA-12 Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio identified the suspect as Hyun Seong Hong, businessman and a resident of 2710 Park Way Irvine, California, USA. Aspacio said anti-narcotics agents raided a hotel where Hyun had just checked in. He did not resist arrest. Aspacio said Hyun who married a Filipina and operates a food business in the city was a PDEA value target. He said the raiding team, armed with a search warrant, seized 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu,” with a market value of P75,000, aluminum foil and several shabu paraphernalia from Hyun. Aspacio said the suspect has been under surveillance for more than two weeks and the raid was conducted after a PDEA, posing as buyer, managed to secure illegal drugs from Hyun. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are beign prepared against the suspect now detained at PDEA detention cell.
