Police mull creation of multi-agency Task Force Pikit
KIDAPAWAN CITY
– Police authorities in North Cotabatohave proposed the establishment of Task Force Pikit, a
multi-agency task force to contain rising criminality and secure residents.
Senior Supt.
Danilo Peralta, North Cotabato police director, along with police and 7th
Infantry Battalion officials and the local government unit of Pikit, led by
Mayor Muhaylyn Sultan-Kasi, met Fridayto contain shooting and other crimes, including
the bombing of United Church of Christ in the Philippines last month.Aside from the bombing, a rash of agaw motorsiklo cases have been happening unabated in Pikit, including the separate shooting of a soldier along a highway, the district supervisor of Midsayap and her husband and a student.All their motorbikes were taken by suspects riding tandem on motorcycles.While the
local officials and the government were trying to find solutions to crimes
against life in Pikit, two farmers were killed by two men in Barangay
Ladtingan.
The Pikit PNP are
now hunting down two suspects believed to be residents of Pikit too.Killed in the
daylight shooting were Angkatan Abdillah and Ali Sangcupan, both 28 years old
and residents of Sitio Lumuak, Katilacan, Pikit.
Police said
the two and Norhaiman Ampatuan were on board a motorbike heading toward the
town center when two men, riding tandem on separate motorbike, tailed them.
As they were
speeding, the two suspects shot them, using cal. 45 pistol. The victims fell off the motorbike but the suspects
peppered more bullets to ensure they were dead.
Ampatuan,
although wounded, managed to run for his life until village officials rescued
him.
He was rushed
by villagers to Cruzado Medical Clinic in Pikit.
The Pikit
police office believed personal grudge was the motive.
