To press ROW claim, 2 bothers climb NGCP tower in DavSur
MATANAO, Davao del Sur — To stress a point, two brothers in Barangay Cabligan here climbed up a tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines Monday morning.Brothers Rey, 40and Amy Boy del Rosario, 30, went up the steel tower causing monstrous traffic along portions of the Davao-Cotabato highway.Police tried to warn the two they should come down or face the risk of electrocution. Both ignored the calls.Residents thought the two were trying to commit suicide but they noticed the Del Rosarios carried with them food packs and mineral water.Amy del Rosario said they will only come down if the NGCP promised to settle its obligation with them - the road right of way claim.Ambrosio, the 60 year old father of Amy and Rey, stressed NGCP has obligations to them but did not settle it the past 20 years. He did not say how much NGCP owed his family but said the payable dates back to about 20 years ago.The two stepped out of the tower late Monday afternoon but warned they will climb up again and risk their lives unless NGCP pay them. The NGCP is yet to issue statement on the matter.
