SoCot cops raid 'piccolo' store in Koronadal
KORONADAL
CITY – Police operatives in South Cotabato seized bundles of prohibited
firecrackers as the province intensified drive against sale of illegal firecrackers
ahead of the New Year.
The
raid was carried after a concerned citizen reported that Marbel Commercial
Center had been selling prohibited firecrackers such as ‘piccolo,’ one of the banned items.Police Officer 3 Manuel Naval of South Cotabato PNP intelligence division, said the raid was a reminder police will enforce the ordinance at all cost.
A
provincial ordinance requires firecracker vendors to display their wares at
designated firecrakers’ zones only.
The
store owners refused to comment on the raid.
Naval
said the seized banned items will serve as evidence in the filing of charges
against the unidentified trader.
In
Koronadal City, six persons were wounded, all by ‘piccolo’ while welcoming
Christmas last week while 16 have been hurt in South Cotabato.
