SoCot gov't to put up classroom inside provincial jail

KORONADAL CITY
- To provide education opportunities for inmates, the provincial government of
South Cotabato will build a classroom at the Provincial Detention and
Rehabilitation Center (SCPRDC).

Gumapac, OIC provincial jail warden of the detention facility, said the
provincial government has allocated a million peso for the implementation of
the project.
At least
P700,000 of the said amount will be utilized to build a classroom for our
students under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) while the P300,000 will be
used to build the adjacent warehouse,” Gumapac told DXOM FM Monday.
He said the
inmates have shown that being detainees was not a hindrance to finish their basic
education thus they deserved a place that is conducive for learning.
Temporarily,
they are using a makeshift classroom inside the facility.
