KORONADAL
CITY- The provincial government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Peace
and Order Council (PPOC) allotted at least P4 million to improve the implementation
of disaster preparedness program.
The amount
will be used in the establishment of Unified Telecommunications Project (UTP).
It aims to
prepare the provincial government, non-government organizations and concerned
government agencies to quickly respond to areas hit by disaster by improving
their present communication tools.
The establishment
of UTP was requested by the Provicial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Office (PDRRMO).
Part of its
implementation is the putting up of network telecommunication project in 10
municipalities and Koronadal City.
We are hoping
that with this project communication among our stakeholders will be easier and
will enable us to respond immediately to the needs of calamity-stricken
communities, especially in villages that has
already established own radio base,” Ponce de Leon, provincial risk
reduction management council head.
