South Cotabato village councilman arrested for drug pushing
KORONADAL CITY
- Following the seizure of more than P25 million worth of methamphetamine
hydrochloride in Sto Nino, South Cotabato, a village councilman of nearby Banga
town, was arrested during a drug buy bust operation Tuesday night.
Arrested was
village councilman Rommel Malala of Barangay Improgo, Banga, South Cotabato.
He was
arrested after agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) secured
a small sachet of suspected shabu.
Malala did not
resist arrest but denied he was into illegal drug trade in Barangay Improgo. A P500 marked money was seized from Malala
and three sachets of shabu.
He is now
detained at the Banga police office lock up cell.
IInterviewed by
DXOM-FM Radyo Bida Koronadal, Malala denied he was pushing drugs nor involved
in drug use.
Earlier in the
day, police operatives of Sto Nino, led by town Chief Inspector Joel Fuerte, police
chief, seized P25 million worth of shabu but missed the suspects.
The raid was
conducted in Barangay Ambalgan at past 10 a.m. after a police agent who posed
as buyer secured P500 worth of shabu from Johney Mantawel and his wife Fatima.
