Tanim Bala? Engr nabbed for carrying bullets in his bag at Davao airport
DAVAO CITY -- The Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU) at Davao International Airport (DIA) arrested and detained a project engineer of a construction firm after 2 pieces of bullets of cal. 9mm were found in one of the pockets of his traveling bag.In an incident report obtained from Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the ASEU arrested a certain Augusto Dorde Dagan for violation of Presidential Decree 1866 as amended by Republic Act 8294 on illegal or unlawful possession, manufacture, dealing in, acquisition or disposition of firearms, ammunition or explosives.Dagan, 60, married and a resident of 1980 Damacara St., Quezon City was among the outbound passengers of Philippines Airlines (PAL) flight PR 1814 for Manila at around 9:40 a.m. Thursday.Dagan was able to post bail amounting to Php 120,000 for his temporary liberty.The police report said that at the initial screening checkpoint of DIA, the duty screening officer named Arell Mark Villareal monitored the images of ammunition from the luggage of Dagan.This prompted Villareal to call the attention of duty investigator PO3 Glenn Jay Galon, who immediately took effect the arrest.It was learned that Dagan is a hydrology expert of a construction firm, which is under contract of the Davao City Water District for its Tamugan water Project.In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Thursday, DCWD spokesperson Bernard Delima said Dagan could have inspected another water project in Bukidnon since the Tamugan bulk water has not yet started.According to Delima, Dagan was on his return to Manila when he was nabbed at the airport. Pending further investigation, Delima said he was not knowledgeable on the detail of the incident.Delima confirmed DCWD helped Dagan facilitate his bail because the construction is DCWD’s partner.
