Blasts rock Sultan Kudarat remote village

TULUNAN, North Cotabato -- Unidentified armed men strafed three houses in a remote village of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, police in Columbio, Sultan Kudaratand Tulunan, North Cotabato confirmed Saturday.Police Insp. Rolando Dillera, Tulunan police chief, said residents of Barangay Maybula, Tulunan reported to him about a series of gun bursts and grenade explosions were heard near the village.He said the incident was outside the Tulunan political boundary but was about 300 meters away from Barangay Maybula.Columbio town police chief Senior Insp. Bernard Fracia said unidentified armed men strafed three house in Barangay Elbebe Friday night.Nobody was hurt in the incident. Columbio police investigators recovered empty shells for Cal. 30 Garand rifle, M-16 Armalite rifle, three safety levers for hand grenadeand a dud MK2 handgrenade.Owners of houses told police they noticed armed men arrived on motorbikes in the village of Elbebe and without a word opened fire then tossed hand grenades.
