Fire hits Cotabato City Evangelical Church

Fire Inspector James Ra, spokesperson ofCotabato City's Bureau of Fire Protection, said the fire started at about 2 a.m. The Church was razed to the ground, except its concrete structures, Ra told DXMS Radyo Bida of the fire that started at the roofing of the Church.He said Pastor Lyndon Ladera of the City Evangelical Church alerted the fire department. He said fire truck and firefighters were already in the fire scene in less than 2 minutes.Estimated damage was about P500,000, Ra said, adding that arson investigation is still on going.According to Ra, initial investigation showed the fire was triggered by electrical wiring that is why it spread quickly. The fire bureau spokesperson said the BFP has recommended reforms for the Church's electrical system after an inspection in May this year. Church officials were to conduct rehabilitation of its electrical system before today's incident.Ra said the firealso affected the Agape Elementary School building.
