Lawmaker wants franchise of van in Matalam highway accident cancelled

KIDAPAWAN CITIY - North Cotabato provincial board member Loreto Cabaya Jr has urged the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-12) to cancel the franchise of van services operator Jovanie Tejaneros of Midsayap, North Cotabato.Tanejeros is the owner of Toyota D4D van (LHM-995) which figured in a deadly highway mishap in Matalam, North Cotabato last Saturday that left nine persons dead and three other passengers wounded.Brendo Singco of Pikit, North Cotabato and the van driver had fled and has now surfaced since. He is now the subject of police manhunt.Cabaya said his recommendation aims to give justice to the fatalities, especially that the driver remained at large.It also aims to send a message to van drivers to be responsible in driving because the lives of commuters rest in their hands, Cabaya added.

Tejaneros owns two passenger vans that regularly ply the Cotabato-Davao route.On Tuesday,Cabaya has filed a resolution in the provincial council and has the support of other council members.
