OMI annual assembly 2015 and More collaboration, fraternal dialogue

KIDAPAWAN
CITY – The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate ended today its annual provincial
assembly at the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Shrine and Retreat Center in
Barangay Binoligan here with more vibrant collaboration in various ministries
in its mission areas.

Started
on Monday, a total of 74 Oblates under the Philippine province attended the
annual gathering with the theme Living our mission in the spirit of
collaboration.”

The
three-day assembly commenced with a challenge from Father Larry de Guia, OMI,
the Oblate provincial superior, who saidand This assembly will not proceed successfully
without the precious help of one another. May I then count on your active
participation as we move forward collaboratively.”

It
was highlighted by the State of the Province Address of Fr De Guia and financial
status report presented by Fr. Rito Daquipil, OMI.

Updates
on various OMI ministry committees were presented, to include ministries on
Indigenous Peoples, Youth and Family Life, Interreligious Dialogue, Justice, Peace
and Integrity of Creation, Parish, Mass Media, Education, Spirituality,
Formation and On-Going Formation.

The
presentation contained committee chair’s respective action and collaborative action
programs.

Clarification,
questions, reactions and suggestions on programs and actions were raised after
every presentation to make each ministry more responsive to the faithful where
these ministries were created for.

The
atmosphere of deliberation was of collaboration, fraternal dialogue and
conversation,” said Fr. Jonathan Domingo, OMI, NDBC-Mindanao Cross CEO and chair
of the Oblate Mass Media Ministry.

Collaboration
is essential element of our being as Disciples of Jesus,” Fr. Mon Bernabe, OMI,
said in his synthesis of the activities.

The
assembly was capped by the Holy Eucharist with Fr. De Guia as the main
celebrant.

In
his homily, Fr. De Guia lauded and appreciated the Oblates for active
participation in the spirit of collaboration.”

In
between the provincial assembly were two batches of Oblates annual retreats facilitated by Fr. Anthony Pernia, SVD, former Superior General of the Divine
Word Missionaries.
