PhilHealth extends indigents/sponsored program coverage

KORONADAL
CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has announced
that all indigents under various organizations and beneficiaries of government
programs, including groups who have sponsors are automatically entitled to avail
of PhilHealth benefits until the end of 2016.

These
indigents include those under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and
Modified Conditional Cash Transfer Program members (MCCT) including sponsored
members of Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), Revolutionary Proletarian
Army (RPA), Cordillera People’s Liberation Army (CPLA), Moro National Liberation
Front (MNLF) and Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army/ National
Democratic Front (NDF) are automatically entitled to avail of their PhilHealth
benefits until December 31, 2016, PhilHealth 12 said in a statement.

Miriam
Grace Pamonag, MD, PhilHealth regional vice president, said members enrolled
under International Labor Organization (ILO) are likewise entitled to avail the same until June
30, 2016 only per Memorandum dated December 23, 2015 signed by the Executive
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Ramon F. Aristoza, Jr.

Prior
to renewal, PhilHealth regional vice presidents, branch managers, field operations
division chiefs, local health insurance office heads, information technology management
division heads were instructed to ensure that all adjustments, tagging, clean
up and termination procedures be done before December 29 last year.

Pamonag said expired members without dependents and
those who have changed their membership categories are exempted from the
renewal. New enrolees endorsed by
the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be forwarded to
the regional offices where said indigents are identified.

Pamonag
said PVC-type IDs are suspended for generation however, cardboard-type
Philhealth Identification Cards and Member Data Records (MDRs) shall be
provided and be distributed during the ALAGA Ka activities by the Local Health
Insurance Offices.
