Ex-cop, 4 others arrested in Koronadal anti-drug raid

KORONADAL CITY –-
Police hauled Thursday night five persons, including an ex-police officer,allegedly engaged in illegal drug activities
during a buy bust operations in Barangay Gen. Paulino Santos here, police said.Newly installed city police director,
Supt. Barney Condes and Dr. Glorio Sandig, action officer of Koronadal City anti-drug
abuse council, led the operation at past 10 p.m. in Purok Ycon. A police asset served as poseur buyer confirmed the existence of prohibited drugs that led to the operation.
Condes identified the
arrested suspects as former Special Action Force (SAF)officerReyna Cosio Bentoy, 27 Myra Quibete, 37 Glenda Mae
Baliton, 22 Jonabelle Awid 20, and Jade Paul Salvatierra, 34, all residents of
Koronadal City. The raiding team seized two
large, 10 medium and one small pack sachets of suspected methamphetamine
hydrochloride.
Condes said the suspects and
the sub-village have been under surveillance for so long due to complaints of
resident about the proliferation of illegal drugs.He said some of the clients
in what appeared to be a shabu tiangge” (drug den) include students and women.

Charges for violation of Republic
Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
