Koronadal IT graduate arrested for maligning woman using the social media
KORONADAL CITY - The National Telecommunication Commission in Region 12 has reminded netizens that surfing the internet and the social media should be accompanied with responsibility on the part of the users.Froilan Jamias, NTC 12 regional director, advised netizens to avoid using the internet, social networks and even mobile phones in posting malicious items or messagesagainst anyone because they can be tracked anytime.Jamias said security features of the social media is very weak and it should not be used to malign other persons or anyone. The NTC chief issued the reminder in an interview by DXO-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal after an Information Technology graduate from Koronadal City was arrested after he allegedly used the the social media in maligning a woman and extorting money from her.He was identified asRodney Oresa, 24, and an employee ofFinancing Company.In an entrapment operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation, Oresa was arrested inside a lodge in Gen. Santos City.Oresa allegedly demanded P5,000 from a woman or have sex with him, otherwise, he will make public her nude photos.Oresa also posed as a foreigner who buys Filipina nude photos at US$ 300 a piece.The woman sought NBI assistance which led to Oresa's arrest.
