KORONADAL CITY -- Police authorities will make its presence felt in a remote village in Tantangan, South Cotabato after unidentified gunmen harassed on Friday villagers andworkers of a road project there, police said.Senior Inspector John Erik Medel, Tantangan town police chief, said a police-Army outpost will be established inPurok Bagong Silang, Barangay Bukay Pait, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Medel said his move aims to protect workers of a road concreting project in the area.He said the farmers near the construction site where stunned by automatic gunfire from nowhere while they were working on their farms. The strafing occurred near the staff house of provincial engineering office workers.Medel said it appears the gunmen were opposed to the road concreting project that is why they have been harassing workers. The farmers were working as the village counterpart in the project, Medel said.He said nobody was hurt in the strafing but he could not say who was behind the attacks.
