15-year-old Hataman give Moro youth sectors fame, honor

COTABATO CITY -- The 15-year-old son of Gov. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was among ten Filipinos included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.”Amin Hataman, eldest son of the ARMM governor and spouse, Sitti Djalia Turabin, incumbent Anak Mindanao Partylist representative, had earlier won international awards for inventing bio-degradable plastic made of Nata de Coco, a nutritious, edible coconut derivative.Ten Filipinos were included in the Forbes list for having excelled in their respective fields.The list featured 300 promising young leaders from across Asia.They were chosen according to categories, arts manufacturing and energy entertainment and sports consumer technology finance and venture capital enterprise technology media and marketing health Care and science social entrepreneurs and retail and e-commerce.Hataman, who is a student of the International Fountain School, was chosen by Forbes for his contribution, through his invention, to science and health.The 15-year-old Hataman is of mixed Yakan and Tausug descent.Hataman was given special citation almost two years ago by ARMM’s regional secretary for science and technology, Myra Mangkabung, for having invented environment-friendly plastic that won a prior award in an international invention contest for students in Georgia.John Magno, ARMM’s regional education secretary, said the feats achieved by Hataman will inspire Moro students in the autonomous region, which covers Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, both in Central Mindanao, and the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. These are very fascinating, inspiring achievements. The Moro community is absolutely not bereft of intelligent kids,” Magno said.Hataman’s visibly overwhelmed patriarch, Gov. Hataman on Friday wrote on his Facebook timeline he is proud of his son, whom he said gave the Moro community fame and honor. Other Filipinos included in the Forbes list were Charice Pempengco, singer (entertainment and sports) Xyza Cruz Bacani, photographer (arts) Ronson Culibrina, artist (arts) Koh Martinez Onozawa, founder of LoudBasstard (retail and e-commerce) Rachel de Villa, founder of Cropital (finance and venture capital) Valenice Balace, founder of dating app Peekawoo (consumer tech) Raphael Mijeno, founder of Sustainable Alternative Lighting (social entrepreneurs) Henry Motte-Munoz, co-founder of the anti-corruption Bantay.ph (social entrepreneurs) and Leandro Leviste, founder of Solar Philippines (manufacturing).
