Koronadal to honor int'l designer from Marbel

KORONADAL CITY -- A local designer who made waves in the international designers' competition will receive an incentive from the local government here, officials said today. City Mayor Peter Miguel said Filipino designer Jared Servano who hails from Koronadal City has brought honors to the city and its people, thus he deserved a monetary incentive and recognition. We appreciate his winning, not only in the local but also in the international scene, Miguel told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida. Servano won third in the International Fashion Showcase held in London last February 23. According to Miguel, Servano also bagfged first runner up award in the recent Project Runway Philippines, a fashion design show.Servanocontemporized thedesigncodes of the indigenous B'laan tribe from Southern Mindanao, the Philippine Star reported last year. He is expected to arrive here anytime this month but before that, Regional Tourism 12 Director Nelly Dillera, Servano will appear during the Treasures of SOX, Travel and Trade Expo Makati City to help to help promote the SOCCSKSARGEN (SOX) region tourist destinations. In winning the London show, Servano made a walking rose dress that looked like it was made of dried buds, but was in fact made from banana hemp. Miguel said a grand welcome awaits Servano when he returns to Koronadal City. We are very proud of him, Miguel said. All Koronadalenios who win international competitions will receive incentives and recognition from the city government, he added.
