STO. NINO,
South Cotabato - Are you a victim of
motorcycle thief? If you are, you are advised by Highway Patrol Group in South
Cotabato to check your vehicle in its office in the province.
This after 21 motorcycles
of various make and models with dubious documents, or none at all, were recovered
during a Onetime, Big Time” joint police operation in Barangay Ambalgan, Sto
Nino, South Cotabato Wednesday morning.
Authorities
believed it busted a carnapping and illegal drug syndicate when two men were
arrested with suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Ambalgan is a
known village in South Cotabato for the operation of illegal drugs where shabu
are reportedly sold like fish in the market.
Alleged
pushers and peddlers wave to motorists and passersby willing to secure illegal
drugs.
At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday,
joint police and highway patrol operatives, including Sto Nino PNP and police provincial
office public safety battalion, raided Purok Avance, Ambalgan and arrested two
men.
Aside from
shabu, the raiding team, led by Senior Supt. Franklin Alvero, South Cotabato
police director, also confiscated six chopped motorbikes and 15 motorcycles
without proper documents.
After weeks of
surveillance operations, police sought 10 search warrants from Judge Lorenzo
Balo of RTC Branch 26.
Chief Inspector
Arnold Carino, South Cotabato Highway Patrol Group chief, said anyone can visit
