Traffic enforcer, 6 others die in South Cotabato highway mishap

KORONADAL CITY -- A series of highway accidents due to over speeding has claimed the lives of traffic law enforcers, students and other motorists along South Cotabato major highways, Radyo Bida reported today.The latest fatality while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Davao City was Clarence Federiso, a member of Koronadal City traffic enforcers.Federiso was driving his motorbike on Thursday dawn when he was hit by a speeding Yellow Bus unit along Gen. Santos Drive, Koronadal City. Christine Joy Pagdato, 21, of Barangay Sto Nino, Koronadal City was in serious condition.Earlier, on May 11, Elmo Padernal, 39 of T'Boli, South Cotabato was killed on the spotafter the motorbike he was driving collided with another motorbike driven by Lester Jordan along Barangay Improgo, Banga, South Cotabato. Jordan later died in the hospital. On Friday the 13th, a speeding Yellow Bus Line bumped the rear side of a motorbike driven by Jolo Miranda along Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal, killing him instantly. Gladys Ann Paranaque, 19who was riding with Miranda, 19, was also killed after the 10 p.m. accident.On May 14,Mayo 14, Carl John Leonida, 18 was pronounced dead on arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital after he figured in a highway mishap.Danny Camariñas, 36 of Barangay Sto Niño, Koronadal City died after his motorbike was hit by another car tailing him at past 8:30 p.m.Following the incident, traffic law enforcers have repeatedly reminding motorists to apply self-restraint in driving, especially at night and avoid using motorbikes when under the influence of liquor.
