Cotabato Light says rainy season reduces power outages

COTABATO CITY – The coming of rainy season did not only offer relief to the country’s farmers but for power utilities as well, the Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) said.
Arlene Hepiga, speaking for Cotabato Light, said the scheduled one-month maintenance shutdown of Therma South Incorporated will have less effect on the power utility’s capacity to provide uninterrupted power supply for Cotabato City and two Maguindanao towns.
It has minimal impact on our franchise area,” Hepiga said, adding that the 2.5 megawatt deficiency as a result of Therma Marine South shutdown can be replenished by Cotabato Light diesel-fed generators.
On top of this, the Cotabato Light spokesperson said the increase water level of hydroelectric power plants also improve Cotabato Light's allocation from National Power Corporation andPower Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (NPC/PSALM).Hepiga said with this current situation, the Cotabato Light is not implementing rotational power interruption in its franchise area.
Unless there is major supply deficiency in the Mindanao grid, we will have uninterrupted power supply,” Hepiga said. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
