DAVAO CITY ---
Amid calls on safety in playing the phenomenal new app in android and IOS smart
phones, Pokemon Go was Saturday day in the Philippines and save the life of a
man believed to have suffered from heat stroke.

Bon Vallite, 29, a
native of Lebak in Sultan Kudarat province and worked as computer consultant in
Davao City, was playing his Pokemon Go around 2:45 Saturday afternoon in front
of Seda hotel in Davao City when he saw a man vomiting blood and was in delicate
situation.

So instead of
finding my first Picachu character in Pokemon Go, I find a man looking for help
while he was flimsy and later vomited blood,” Vallite said.

Vallite was then
navigating his direction outside the hotel compound seeking to catch a new
Pokemon character his game has directed him for a level up.

Having a background
as a health worker before he moved to Davao this year, Vallite immediately
rendered first aid procedures.

I gave him water,
laid his back to the wall because he is bending forwards to breath comfortably
as he keeps on vomiting and since I have bottled water with me, I put some to
his face to normalize his pressure,” Vallite narrated.

He immediately called
the attention of the nearest guard to help him call 911 while attending the
patient and in few minutes an ambulance arrived.

Medical responders from ambulance told Vallite that the man, later identified
as Dondie Mark Gadon of Tagum City was on his way to a body building gym. Initial assessment showed Gadon, who works in
a wine company, suffered heat stroke.

He was immediately
brought to the nearest Metro Davao Medical and Research Center.

For Vallite, though he
heard negative comments on playing the latest trend Pokemon Go because of the
security and safety of players who have to hunt Pokémon characters outside
homes, the online game has positive story.

The Metropolitan
Manila Development Authority has issued a safety advisory to those hunting and
finding character apps to avoid losing attention while on streets, intersections
and footbridges to avoid unnecessary accidents.

Pokemon Go is
developed and published by Niantic, Inc.

Since its release in
North America and Australia on July 6, the game has now been downloaded by over
a million times and earning currently a $10 million daily revenue according to
a gadget site, Engadget. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
