South Cotabato's domestic violence at its worst

KORONADAL CITY – A 23-year-old married woman has died about an hour after her husband hit her headwith awood in Sitio Manisi, Barroio 2,Banga, South Cotabato.Darren Jane Griño was pronounced dead on arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital Monday afternoon.Her husband, Rolly Griño, Jr, 24, a suspected drug dependent, has fled and remained at large.The victim's mother said the couple had a heated argument on Monday afternoon in their home. Rolly allegedly kicked and hit his child with a wooden stick. Darren Jane came to her child's rescue and this angered the suspect.He then hit his wife in her nape, sending the Darren Jane unconscious.Police Officer 3 Roldan Apostol, investigator on case of Banga PNP,said at 11 p.m. Monday, Griño and his father showed up at police station in Banga to voluntarily surrender.Roldan said the suspect, now detained at Banga PNP lock-up cell,admitted to the crime.
