KIDAPAWAN CITY – Foreign and local tourists feasted this morning more than 4,000 kilos of assorted fruits as the city commenced its fruit Timpupo (Harvest) Festival and founding anniversary.

Hundreds of “fruit lovers” who earlier secured a ticket worth P50 that gave them access to the fruit galore site took turns in eating mangosteen, durian, lanzones, and rambutan, among other fruits.

The venue was at the city plaza grounds.

Takers came from various parts of the country, including foreign tourists who visibly enjoyed tripical fruits from Kidapawan, more known as the “city of fruits and higlands.”

Kidapawan Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the “eat all you can” event is happening for four days during the week-long celebration.

One of the local tourists, Valen Sorgona, a resident of nearby Digos City, said she came over to feast on the fruits although her city was abundant with fruits.

“Mas lami man diri (its tastier here),” she said of the Kidapawan fruits.  Her favorite was durian and marang fruits.

Evangelista said more eat all you can event is scheduled in the coming days.
