COTABATO CITY - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim was lauded and thanked, on behalf of investors in the region, by the Board of Governors of the Regional Board of Investments (RBOI) of the BARMM in its Resolution No. 1 dated March 11, 2020 for maintaining the distinct legal existence of the RBOI, as provided in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL). 

Early in the year Chief Minister Ebrahim issued Administrative Order No. 1 s. 2020 attaching the RBOI to the Office of the Chief Minister. 

COTABATO CITY --- Officials are anticipating an “exodus” to Lanao del Sur from Metro Manila of Maranaw merchants and their families due to displacement as a consequence of the coronavirus plague.

Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. said Saturday he will convene on Monday the 39 mayors in Lanao del Sur and local officials in its capital, Marawi City, to build consensus on quarantine and rehabilitation measures for returning constituents.

COTABATO CITY --- Mayor Rose Furigay of Lamitan City issued Thursday Executive Order 08-2020 that temporarily banned all gatherings in any of their more than 40 barangays as an anti-COVID-19 initiative.

Lamitan City is the capital of Basilan, one of the five provinces in the Bangsamoro region.

Media outlets on southern regions received copies of the Lamitan City EO 08-2020 Friday.

Lamitan City officials earlier said they have placed the city’s port under watch by health workers to preclude a possible entry of a COVID-19 afflicted person.

COTABATO CITY --- The Basilan provincial government is setting up a model greenhouse from where local sectors and hundreds of now reforming former Abu Sayyaf members can learn organic gardening as means of livelihood.

The now second-termer Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman led last March 7 the inauguration of his administration’s organic, drip-irrigated greenhouse project in Lumbang, Isabela City.

The project is two-pronged --- a learning facility to improve productivity of peasant communities and to complement the food security program of the Basilan provincial government.

COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has declared ‘Code Red’ alert in all health facilities across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) following the increase of 2019 novel coronavirus cases in the country.

This was announced by Minister of Health Dr. Safrollah Dipatuan today, March 10, in Zamboanga City.

COTABATO CITY -- The Bangsamoro Communities Outside of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BCOBAR) Federation together with the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament and select non-government organizations successfully conducted its second conference Wednesday, March 04, 2020 held at the BTA Executive Lounge, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.

The conference was led by BCOBAR National Chairman Amroding D. Rasul together with Parliament Speaker Representative Norhaine Candao and Civil Society Organizations Representative Selahuddin Yu Hashim of The Moropreneur, Inc.

COTABATO CITY --- It was the peace efforts of the local communities and not military or police interventions that catalyzed a zero kidnapping incident in Basilan since 2016, top security officials said. 

The feat was mentioned in Thursday’s state of the province address of the now second-termer Gov. Jim Salliman in Isabela City in Basilan. 

Salliman also underscored the continuing collaboration among local sectors in furthering their provincial security initiatives since 2016 that weakened the Abu Sayyaf in the island province. 

MARAWI CITY — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting an agriculture project which binds into partnership the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, the East-West Seed (EWD) Company, Iligan City local government and the Plan International, a New York-based independent humanitarian organization.

QUEZON CITY - The 46th National Qur'an Reading Competition was held on March 3 at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Quezon City.

This year's theme was "Qur'an and the Rights of Women and Children in Islam." NCMF Secretary Saidamen B. Pangarungan welcomed the participants and guests, with the Bureau of Muslim Cultural Affairs headed by Director Laman Piang organizing the said activity.

COTABATO CITY --- Local executives in Basilan and Bangsamoro Chief Minister Hadji Ahod Ebrahim agreed Monday to cooperate on development efforts needed to sustain the peace now in the province.

Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman invited Ebrahim, during their meeting at the regional capitol of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in Cotabato City, to tour the island province to see how the provincial government and its constituent-local government units are addressing domestic security issues together.
