It's raining ice in Norala, South Cotabato
NORALA, South Cotabato - Hailstorm hit a remote town in South Cotabato on Sunday, the first time this farming community has experience such phenomenon following heavy down pour Sunday afternoon. The hailstorm lasted for about five minutes in some areas, Engr. Nelson Gleyo, municipal disaster officer, said quoting villagers. Ice that landed on the galvanized roofs of some houses were as big as marbles (holen), he told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida.Following the heavy rain which also occurred in the Upper Valley area of South Cotabato, the town government of Surallah has started preparations for possible floods.Norala served as catch basin of river waters from the towns of Banga, Surallah, T'boli and Lake Sebu.Buddy Javier, weather forecaster ofPhilippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), hailstorms are normal events during heavy down pour while it was still dry season.
