OCD-12: Floods affect 4,436 families 4 provinces

KORONADAL CITY - The week-long moderate to heavy down pour brought about by torrential rains in southern Mindanao has displaced more than 4,400 families or about 26,000 residents, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-12) today said.Citing OCD-12 records, Jerome Barranco, assistant regional director, said more than 4,436 families or about26,600 individuals have been affected by floods that hit the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Saranggani and North Cotabato.He said South Cotabato was the most affected provinces with Koronadal City suffering destroyed bridge and the towns of Tupi, Tampakan, Banga and Norallah.Barranco said at least P100 million worth of agricultural crops were damaged when major tributaries in South Cotabato overflowed last week.
