Pinol sets City Council employees' work ethics
KIDAPAWAN CITY - The new vice mayor of Kidapawan City has set policies and guidelines to ensure effective services to city residents.Vice Mayor Bernardo Jun Pinol, also the presiding officer ofKidapawan City Sangguniang Panglungsod has casual, job order and co-terminus employees. He told employees under him that being employed at the city legislative body is not a privilege but a responsibility. Therefore, they are expected to perform the assigned tasks so that all transactions are dong on time. Reporting for work under the influence of illegal drugs or liquor is strictly prohibited, Pinol said. I set this as my number one policy because I observed in the past that SP employees who joined our elected officials in barangay fiestas, weddings, and other social gatherings also drink as much liquor as their bosses who are elected to service,” Pinol, former congressman of North Cotabato, said. Submit daily time record on time to avoid delays of salaries, he told the employees. Employees under me who twice failed to submit their daily time record on time shall be fired, he said. He also urged employees to open Savings Account to encourage the low income earners to learn the art of saving money. The first 25 employees with biggest savings form their salaries will get reward in December.However, the last 25employees will earn demerits and could be the basis ofnon-renewal of appointments. I am introducing this system to encourage employees, especially the low income earners, to learn the art of saving money. I will give the same amount as reward to those who made it on top 25,” Pinol said. Pinol also discouraged tsismis” and negative minded individuals and warned employees who cast aspersions and spread rumors that demean their co-employees that they will be penalized accordingly. The code is, if you have nothing to say anything good about your co-employees, keep silent and just focus on your respective assignments,” the vice mayor said. Pinol said he is doing this to instill the highest degree of Civil Service values...that serving the government under him is not a privilege but a responsibility.
