PNP, Army alerted vs. BIFF hit men in NorCot

MIDSAYAP,
North Cotabato -- Police and military authorities here and in
nearby areas were alerted following intelligence reports that Moro
lawless elements were out to launch massive motorcycle theft.
We have a
very reliable intelligence information that the BIFF is launching carry
motorcycle theft through its hitmen,” Supt. Reynante delos Santos, Midsayap police chief, of the
outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
They were
trained to shot while back-riding on motorbikes,” Delos Santos said, adding
that about a company size of BIFF or about 20 members were deployed to grab
motorcycles, either through theft or shooting its owner or driver.
On Wednesday
noon, a soldier was shot and wounded by suspected BIFF in Barangay Tugal,
Midsayap, North Cotabato and took his motorbike.
Delos Santos
said Sgt. Frederick Marimon, assigned with the Charly company of the 40th
Infantry Battalion, was shot and wounded by two gunmen in Barangay Tugal,
Midsayap, North Cotabato at 11 a.m.
He was heading
to the town’s public market on board his Honda Dream motorbike when one of two
men fired at him in the leg.
As he crashed,
the suspects fired more shots but missed as Marimon sought help from roadside
residents.The suspects fled with his motorbike.

said the Midsayap PNP is still conducting a manhunt operation.

said the Midsayap PNP is coordinating with other law enforcement agencies in
the province to contain the threat from BIFF.
The
motorcycle theft is one of the fund raising drive of the BIFF to bankroll its
operation in Maguindanao and North Cotabato,” he said.
Aside from
motorcycle theft, the BIFF is extorting bus companies plying the North
Cotabato-Davao route, Tacurong City-Bukidnon-Cagayan de Oro route and Sultan
Kudarat-Davao route.
Delos Santos
has appealed to residents of Midsayap and nearby towns to help the police
prevent BIFF initiated atrocities by reporting any suspicious persons in their
communities, especially those riding in tandem on motorbikes.
