Wayward bus tire hits, kills girl in Koronadal City
KORONADAL CITY – A 14-year-old teenage
girl was killed while her brother was critically wounded when she was hit by
rampaging double tire of a passenger bus that was detached while the bus was
traversing in a remote village here Sunday.
Supt. Barney Condes, Koronadal City PNP, identified
the girl as Trisha Alberio, resident of Purok Artisean, Barangay San Roque,
this city, Her brother, Dodong, 10, was
seriously hurt.
Quoting police reports, Condes said a Gen. Santos
City bound Yellow Bus unit with body number A-59 was traversing a diversion
road in Barangay San Roque at 4 p.m. while the main highway was barricaded by
farmers demanding rice form the government.
Witness said the bus was moderately speeding in an
uphill concrete road when one ofits rear tires suddenly detached and rolled toward a
house where the victims were sitting. Alberiowas hit in the head by the rolling tire and died instantly.
Barangay San Roque residents blamed the incident to
farmer-protesters because when they blocked the highway, vehicles heading to
