Fire fighters prevent grass fire to reach Cotabato gas station
COTABATO CITY – Fire fighter prevented today the spread of a
grass fire that hit the back portion of a gasoline station along Quezon Avenue,
the Bureau of Fire Protection today said.
Fire Officer James Ra, speaking for BFP-Cotabato City, said had
it not for the timely arrival of fire fighters the grass fire could have
reached nearby gasoline station.
The grass fire started at 2 p.m. at a vacant lot loaded with
garbage and dried grass.
He said the fire wall helped prevent the fire from spreading
toward the gasoline outlet.
Ra appealed to the public to be extra careful in setting on fire
garbage because the surroundings are flammable due to extreme heat brought
about by El Nino.”
A resident said the fire quickly engulfed the dried grasslands
thus it went out of control. (Ferdinandh Carbera)
