Child from Iloilo drowns in South Cotabato pool

KORONADAL CITY
– An 8-year-old boy who went on vacation in South Cotabato from Iloilo City
will return home in a casket after he drowned in a swimming pool in Banga town
Sunday, officials said today.

Police
identified the child as Aul Genesis Amante from San Rafael, Iloilo.

Police said
the child and his mother Lovelyn were on vacation and attended the wedding of a
relative in Surallah, South Cotabato.

The Banga
police theorized that during the wedding reception, in Barangay Liwanay, Bangaon Saturday evening, the
child went swimming with other children but part ways form the group.

At past 7 p.m.
the lifeless body of Genesis was found underwater. A life resuscitation was applied, to no
avail.Following the incident, the Banga PNP reiterated its reminders for parents to take care of their children while they enjoy vacationing or swimmingin resorts.Banga and South Cotabato have several inland swimming resorts that have been filled with holidaymakers.
